Another group of fledgling Ukeologists graduated last night after a 4Week Session at Donald Quan’s beautiful Musideum studio in Toronto. I witnessed their transformation from ultra beginners to avid, addicted, adventurous, creative, excited, joyous players. I’m so proud of them. And as happy as they look, that’s double for me! Unfortunately, because I’ll be leaving town for New Brunswick from Feb.23-Mar.18 to do “The Musical of Musicals” at Theatre New Brunswick (with my good pal Jennie Toulmin, who was the Anne to my Marilla for 4 seasons of “Anne of Green Gables” in Charlottetown – reunited – YAY! ), we’ll have to wait to do another session of workshops. That gives them all time to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and then blow me away with their unbelievable prowess when I return. With the ukulele, it can happen!
I’m a believer – oh yes I am…..what a HOOT this class was! Judy is a master Ukeologist (player, teacher and all round fun uke-buddy as are all the wonderful new friends I met)….can’t wait ’till the next one! Hurry back, Jude.
The pleasure was mutual Bonnie!
I’ve taken quite a few music lessons over the years, but this beginner series for the ukulele with Judy was definitely one of the highlights. The time in each class slipped by so quickly, but we all came away with a happy sense of accomplishment & cameraderie. If you have a hankering to learn the uke, Judy’s the one to get you ‘hooked’.
I am so very glad that I took this class. But I miss playing with others now that it’s over. Awww, Judy level 2 is eagerly awaited.
Dear Melissa, you have most definitely been stung by the deadly infectious ukulele bug, commonly found hovering around eager Ukeologists , in that delicate moment when they realize they have discovered the secret to happiness in their sweet and lovely ukuleles. And I get to witness those moments…..lucky me. I miss you guys too. So, somewhere between Mar.22 and Apr.15 (before I leave again to do “The Full Monty”) we can try to fit in a Level 2 Workshop. Ideally, more than just a one-nighter would be more beneficial. But if that doesn’t work, after June 10. (I wonder if a group Skype session is an option??) XOXO
That was soooooooo much fun!! Yes, the ukulele is a “pure joy maker”. I can’t wait for the next level to start. You are such a wonderful teacher … so focused in your method of teaching all of us wanna be “ukeologists! 🙂 You kept the classes entertaining and easy, leaving us wanting more . Thank you Judy – what a treat. If anybody out there is thinking of taking up the Ukulele, get on board with Judy – an excellent time will be had by all!!
Trying to learn the Uke on my own, I was all thumbs. Thanks to Judy I discovered I could use all my other fingers and make a beautiful sound. In 4 short weeks we learned so much from Judy. She is the Queen of Ukeology, engaging, extremely patient, entertaining and FUNNY! Who knew you could laugh and learn all at the same time! I am hooked Judy….looking forward to more classes with you.
